Team Member Spotlight: Karla Morris
This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Karla Morris, our talented Impact Manager for the River Parishes. Karla has been with Junior Achievement for five years, and her dedication to empowering youth is truly inspiring.
Karla grew up in Kenner, Louisiana, attending Mt. Carmel Academy before earning her degree from Louisiana State University. Her roots in the area have given her a deep appreciation for the culture and community she now serves.
Before joining JA, Karla wore many hats. She spent six years as a Spanish teacher for grades Pre-K through 8, followed by roles in accounting and human resources. Each of these experiences has shaped her approach to her current work, equipping her with a unique perspective on education and organizational impact.
When asked about her favorite part of the job, Karla shared, “Getting to work with children is truly the most rewarding and fulfilling part of my job. Knowing that you are making a difference in their lives by preparing them to succeed in the real world brings me so much joy.” She also loves that JA provides students with practical, life-changing skills, and she’s always thrilled to hear how JA has impacted generations of families.
Karla’s dream destination is Italy, though she would love to visit anywhere in Europe. Her biggest influences are her parents and her three children, who inspire her daily. When it comes to dining, Ruth’s Chris Steak House is her go-to spot for a delicious steak. A trip to Italy is at the top of her bucket list, and she is also looking forward to reading Signs, a book recently recommended by a friend. Additionally, Karla is bilingual in Spanish and English, a skill deeply connected to her Honduran heritage, which she proudly embraces.
Karla’s dedication and passion for empowering students and connecting with the community make her an invaluable member of our team. We’re so grateful for everything she brings to Junior Achievement and the students she impacts every day.
