Team Member Spotlight: Meet Caleb Jenkins, Greater New Orleans Impact Manager
This month, we’re excited to spotlight one of our newest team members, Caleb Jenkins, who joined Junior Achievement in December 2023 as an Impact Manager. Caleb has quickly become an integral part of our team, bringing his passion for education and his commitment to supporting teachers and students throughout the Greater New Orleans region.
Caleb grew up in Washington Parish, LA, and his journey to New Orleans is a story of serendipity and love for the city’s unique culture. While studying for his bachelor’s degree in English education at Mississippi College, Caleb spent a summer interning in New Orleans. It was during this time that he met his future wife and fell in love with the vibrant city. After graduating in 2021, Caleb and his wife decided to make New Orleans their home.
Before joining Junior Achievement, Caleb spent three years working as a middle school teacher in New Orleans. His experience in public education gave him a deep understanding of the challenges teachers face and the importance of providing students with the resources they need to succeed. Now, as an Impact Manager at JA, Caleb is excited to extend his impact beyond the classroom by working with schools across the region.
"My favorite part of my job is that I get to be a support for teachers, providing resources and experiences that support the work they do," Caleb shared. "I love that we work with K-12 and beyond, helping to close the gaps in financial literacy and understanding within our communities."
Outside of his work, Caleb is an adventurer at heart. He and his wife have a goal of visiting all 50 US states, finding unique experiences along the way. His current travel aspiration is to visit Thailand, where he hopes to immerse himself in the culture and perhaps even stay at an elephant sanctuary.
When he’s not planning his next adventure, Caleb enjoys rewatching and rereading the Harry Potter series with his wife—a shared passion that adds a bit of magic to their everyday lives.
When it comes to food, Caleb has a couple of go-to spots in New Orleans. For a laid-back meal with friends, he loves Pizza Delicious in the Bywater. But when he wants to show off the city’s unique culinary scene to visitors, Jacques-Imo’s is his top choice.
Caleb credits his parents with instilling in him the values of hard work, respect, and kindness. Another significant influence in his life is his high school English teacher, Mrs. Marsha, who encouraged him to pursue his passions and stand up for what he believes in.
We’re thrilled to have Caleb on our team and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will continue to make at Junior Achievement. If you see Caleb around, be sure to say hello and ask him about his latest adventures or his favorite New Orleans eats!
