A Super Bowl Celebration: JA Joins Impact 59 Day of Service
On Thursday, February 6, Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans joined the Impact 59 Day of Service at the Treme Recreation Community Center, where a festive, high-energy atmosphere set the stage for a day of service and celebration. The event felt more like a Super Bowl tailgate party than a volunteer project, with a DJ spinning upbeat tunes, Kansas City Chiefs’ mascot and cheerleaders hyping up the crowd, and the New Orleans Saints’ own Gayle Benson, players, and the Saints Cheer Krewe adding to the excitement.
Impact 59 Powered by Entergy, the official Super Bowl LIX Legacy Grant Program, is dedicated to creating a lasting impact in New Orleans and surrounding parishes. As part of the NFL Foundation’s commitment to positive change, 65 nonprofit organizations received grants to support initiatives in economic development, education, workforce training, youth development, health and wellness, and equity and inclusion.
Junior Achievement is honored to be among the 65 grant recipients, collaborating with YouthForce NOLA and STEM NOLA to bring hands-on STEM learning experiences to Orleans Parish public middle school students, exposing them to future career paths.
Amid the excitement, JA’s Director of Advancement, Kelly Wilson, rolled up her sleeves alongside a dynamic group of volunteers. In the spirit of giving back, teams worked together to pack after-school snacks for local youth and prepare meals for elderly residents, supporting Feeding America and the Second Harvest Food Bank.
From music and mascots to meaningful service, the Impact 59 Day of Service was a powerful reminder of how community, collaboration, and celebration can come together to make a lasting difference.
