September Programs and Events Round Up

As September ends, we are excited to share the highlights of our programs and special events. It has been a month filled with learning, collaboration, and fun!

September Programs Recap

Livingston Collegiate STEM Career Chat

We’ve officially kicked off the new school year with exciting partnerships and impactful programming! A special thank you to our incredible volunteers from Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy, University of New Orleans Center for Equity and Diversity in Engineering, and Operation Spark for participating in the STEM Career Chat at Livingston Collegiate. This Career Chat, organized alongside YouthForce NOLA, gave sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to speak with professionals in STEM fields during their lunch break. It was a great way for students to learn more about the industry and explore potential career paths.

Soft Skills Workshop at The Net: East

In collaboration with YouthForce NOLA, we hosted a Soft Skills Workshop for The Net: East students, as part of their Soft Skills class. This month’s session focused on professional networking, with students creating and practicing their own elevator pitches. A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer, Stephanie Blue from Three Pillars HR Solutions, for mentoring students during the workshop. The Soft Skills workshops will continue throughout the semester, providing students with invaluable hands-on learning opportunities.

Work Readiness at New Harmony High

We also had the pleasure of working with New Harmony High, offering juniors and seniors a Work Readiness Learning Experience. These 21 students learned about careers in Healthcare Technology Management and Railroad industries, covering everything from transportation and engineering to administration and operations. We’re incredibly grateful to our inspiring speakers—Ari Ferrand Goodwin, Gregory Harris, and Troy Banks from New Orleans Public Belt Railroad and Port of New Orleans, as well as Bryant Hawkins from LCMC Health Children’s Hospital and TRIMEDX—for sharing their career journeys and expertise.
